What is the difference between citronella and citronella Java?
Ceylon citronella contains more monoterpene hydrocarbons than Java citronella. They both contain geraniol, citronellol and citronellal. The Java varietya yields twice as much essential oil as Ceylon one and has a higher citronellal content. It is thought that the Java oil is probably the better insect repellant
Repelling mosquitoes and other insects and treating their bites, Java citronella essence is anti-infectious, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory. For example, it is recommended in ENT to treat a sore throat as it is anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-infectious.
